Paleo Day 7 - What a difference a sharp knife makes…
Didn’t feel so foggy/lethargic/spacey today like I did yesterday, which really leads me to believe I’m just not getting enough calories. I had eggs with ground beef for breakfast, spaghetti squash with garlic chicken sausage for lunch (which wasn’t a great combo and shall not be repeated), snacked on the leftover spaghetti squash with sauce after work, had pan-fried cod for dinner (which, really, I need to learn how to cook fish properly because that simply did not work), snacked on a bunch of almonds, made baked caulflower (with WAY too much cayenne, lesson learned), and had an apple just now.
And according to MyPlate on livestrong.com (which I used to use when I obsessively tracked calories, and it was the quickest way I could think of to see if I’m getting enough) I’ve only have 1250 calories today. According to MyPlate, I should be having 1790 a day to maintain a safe 2lb a week weight loss. Now of course, it’s just rough calculating on there, as I didn’t measure out exactly how many almonds I had, or the exact amount of cod I was able to scrape off the pan, but it definitely shows I need to pick up somewhere.
In other news, I ordered a nice 6” chef’s knife yesterday from Amazon, and by the powers of Student Prime and my location on a major shipping route, it arrived this morning. It is so nice to be able to chop things properly. It went through the cauliflower and my apple like butter. And of course, I’ve only owned the thing for 5 hours so far and I already managed to stab myself with it… nothing major, just a little prick like I would get from a cat claw (and I get those all the time), but I still felt foolish.
So I guess I’ve officially gotten through my first week of Paleo! Huzzah :D
