smokin-la asked: Dairy isn't paleo. Some folks will do raw dairy, but technically, no dairy. Except Ghee which is butter with the milk solids removed, therefore it is only fat. Hummus is not paleo. You have to process chic peas before using them (they are also high in carbs). That is generally the best way to tell. Grains, beans, breads, pastas. No legumes (peanuts). Check your library for the Paleo Solution. It's a great reference.
Thanks for the advice! I’m definitely going to look into raw dairy products - I can do without the bread and grains and legumes but I do like my cheese! And I forgot to mention in my initial post that I’m about 60 pages into The Paleo Solution and I’m really loving the book. The author knows how to explain things without talking down on you or dumbing it down so much that it’s pointless.
